A woman sits at a small keyboard with the lid raised and the keys painted in; a man stands beside her with a violin under his chin and the bow drawn across. The two are turned slightly towards each other, which is the whole point of the group — from the front they read as one piece rather than two figures sharing a base.

The violin and bow are modelled separately and are the most delicate elements on the lamp.
