Questions

Frequently asked questions

Lamps are a slightly awkward thing to buy online — scale is hard to judge and wiring matters. Here is what we get asked most, answered plainly.

The lamps themselves

Are these antiques?

No. Every piece is newly made to our own designs. The figurine lamps draw on eighteenth-century European porcelain — the swing, the balcony, the pair at chess — but nothing we sell is an antique, a reproduction of a specific historic model, or a piece from any other maker's catalogue.

What are they made of?

The figurine lamps are glazed porcelain with hand-applied detailing, under ivory pleated silk shades. The blue-and-white lamps are glazed ceramic, hand-painted in cobalt under the glaze, under ivory linen drum shades. Fittings are metal. Full detail is on Care & Materials.

Will mine look exactly like the photograph?

Close, not identical. The painting and the applied flowerwork are done by hand, so brushwork, the depth of the blue and the exact placement of applied flowers vary a little from piece to piece. Small kiln marks on the underside are normal. If you want two that match closely — for a pair either side of a bed, say — email us before ordering and we will pick them together.

Is a shade included?

Yes. Every lamp ships with the shade shown, already sized to the base. Bulbs are not included.

What bulb does it take?

A standard E26 screw bulb, 60 W maximum. We suggest a warm-white LED of about 2700K and 450–800 lumens — the glaze and the gilding look flat under cool light. Dimmable LEDs work if your fitting or plug is dimmable.

Is it wired for the United States?

Yes — 120 V, two-pin US plug, with an inline switch on the cord. Cord length is roughly 1.8 m (about 6 ft).

How big are they really?

Height including the shade runs from about 40 cm to about 60 cm depending on the model, and each product page lists its own measurements. They are table lamps, not floor lamps — measure your surface before ordering, and remember the shade is usually the widest part.

Ordering, delivery and returns

Where do you ship?

Worldwide. Standard shipping within the United States is free; an expedited service is available at checkout. Orders outside the United States ship at a flat rate of $19.99.

How long will it take?

Orders are picked and packed within 1–3 business days. United States delivery is usually 7–12 business days by standard service and 4–6 by expedited. Elsewhere, allow 10–20 business days. These are working estimates, not guarantees — customs and carrier backlogs add time and are outside our control.

How is something this fragile packed?

Double-boxed. The lamp is wrapped and suspended in foam inside an inner carton, the shade travels in its own box, and the two go into an outer carton. Breakages are rare, but they happen.

It arrived damaged. What now?

Email info@turqelis.com within 7 days with photographs of the damage and of the outer carton. We will replace the piece or refund it. Do not send anything back before we reply — we may not need it returned, and a second journey rarely improves a cracked lamp.

Can I return one I simply do not like?

Yes, within 30 days, unused and in its original packaging. Return shipping is yours unless the item was damaged or wrong. Full terms are in our Refund Policy.

Can I change or cancel an order?

If it has not shipped, yes — email us as soon as you can and include your order number. Once it is with the carrier it has to run its course and come back as a return.

Do I pay duties?

Prices are in US dollars and exclude any import duty or tax your country charges. Where duties apply they are collected by the carrier on delivery. We cannot estimate them for you.

Not covered here? Email info@turqelis.com and a person will reply, usually within one business day. If you are asking about a specific lamp, the product name helps.
